A new album from Joan Shelley ’04

Over and Even (No Quarter), the third solo album from Joan Shelley ’04, is a lovely and mysterious record. Joan’s warm voice and guitar playing is paired with restrained but inventive guitar work from Nathan Salsburg to create a set of songs that feels both timeless and contemporary.

NPR Music’s Stephen Thompson picked the album as one of his 10 favorites of 2015: “Calm and quietly stated … all 12 of these gorgeous acoustic songs were made to tamp down raw nerves, with comforting lyrics … to match Shelley’s honeyed delivery. There’s not a misstep on Over And Even, a collection of feel-better music that settles over the skin like a security blanket.”

We’re excited to welcome Joan, along with the band Maiden Radio, to KCD this month as artists in residence.
